Directions to Cambridge Outdoor Club
As COC has no permanent residents, to avoid disappointment, please telephone the following number, to ensure that a member is available to welcome you. Club – 01353741335
The club is in the hamlet of Aldreth, which is about a mile and a half south of Haddenham. Haddenham is 6 miles (10 kilometres) SW of Ely and about 10 miles (16 kilometres) North of Cambridge.
If travelling from the south, leave the M11 at Cambridge onto the A14 East. Take the A10 exit north towards Ely. After about seven miles turn left at the roundabout at Stretham on to the A1123 for Haddenham.
From the north (A1) or west (A14) take the A1123 east from Huntingdon through Saint Ives and on to Earith and then Haddenham.
From King’s Lynn follow the A10 past Ely to Stretham, then turn right at the roundabout on to the A1123 to Haddenham.
From the east (A11 or A14) turn north near Newmarket on to the A142 for about 3 miles, then west between Fordham and Soham on the A1123 towards Haddenham.
Once in Haddenham, turn onto the Aldreth road (signposted). The road leaves Haddenham in a southerly direction and passes a large, white windmill, then past an agricultural contractor’s yard (Everitts). The road then crests a hill and slopes down into Aldreth. (If you look to your left at this point, you will see a large electrical substation at the bottom of the field slope – this is your aim point).
Please slow down as you enter the village, and look for the second road on the left “The Borough” beside a children’s’ playground. Turn into The Borough but be careful, this narrow track has a dogleg entrance. Continue carefully along the track and after about 200 yards, the electricity substation is on your left and the green double gates of “The Orchard” are on your right. Congratulations – you have arrived safely at COC. Please ring the bell and we will make you welcome.
There is a bus stop at the end of the Borough in Aldreth and also in Haddenham if you feel like a brisk walk first.
